The Infamous Masterson’s , positioned in the vibrant core of Moonee Ponds, promotes itself as a chic “hipster” locale , but my most recent experience at this establishment turned into one of the worst experiences of my life . While the bar may seem appealing from the exterior , what I encountered behind its threshold was disturbing and far below any standard .
Cleanliness Issues : Grimy and Abandoned
From the moment I stepped inside , it was clear that hygiene was not a priority at this venue. The ground was covered in grime , and a pungent odor of uncleaned spills and filthy restrooms suffused the entire pub. With a smell of a mixture of human waste, decay and illness . The serving zone , which should be the main attraction of any pub, was piled high with used mugs and litter that looked like it had accumulated over weeks. The toilet was in even a more revolting state — backed up, with a cracked flush mechanism and tiles smeared in what I can only assume was feces.
It wasn’t just a single bad experience either. From reading other reviews and speaking with locals , it seems that the level of hygiene (or lack thereof) at this pub is a long-standing issue . Many here guests have reported seeing bugs darting across the drink station and evidence of rodent infestations in the basement . For a business a post that caters to patrons, these issues are absolutely intolerable and raise serious concerns about the sanitation of anything they serve .

The bar is operated by Pete Cornwell, who more info also holds a corporate position as a stress-testing specialist at Westpac.
